Game Boy iPhone case prank is now in development

Some April Fools' Day pranks can actually spawn great ideas.
Gaming hardware company Hyperkin released a joke iPhone Game Boycase on Reddit Saturday, exciting every iPhone owner older than 18. After hitting the front page, however, the company decided that this may actually be a good idea.
The product, dubbed the Smart Boy, will attach to the iPhone 6 Plus (and other phones in the future) and will turn your phone into a handheld gaming device that will also accept Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges.
"We wanted to create a retro device that can be easily adapted into any modern gamer's arsenal of devices," said Hyperkin's product developer Chris Gallizzi in a press release from the company.
The product will be accompanied with a exclusive downloadable app, noticeable upscaling, a cheat database and save sates. All of this will be powered with an external battery that will allow up to five hours of gameplay. For those who aren't as familiar with the original '80s grey Game Boy, more colors will also be available in the future (we're look at you, '90s kids).
But don't get too excited yet. This is just a concept, and Hyperkin notes that some of these features may change.
Additionally, Nintendo may not approve of the idea, especially considering the gaming giant plans to finally move into the smartphone gaming world.
